Yes Doc, I understand, but sometimes I use my "kiln" from KERR also for cooking, I can even make a cake in it. And it is always clean and sterile when I burned out some casting flasks.
But Ok I now I only need 260° Celsius, piece of cake

Hi Arnaud ,

T° annealing is 500° Celsius ;
You have some data about heat treatment of Titanium here : http://www.keytometals.com/Article97.htm

In your PdF from Reactive metals, they say : wine can be used for anodizing Titanium.

I have get a try tonight….and it works !!! After anodizing I have drunk all the « electrolyte « remaining in the glass … That was excellent :cool:

Thank you Arnaud

For the contrast to the texture I would like to polish some parts of the ring, but I think high gloss polishing Ti is another chapter, has anyone got a solution to that???

No Willem, just piece of cake if you have the right polishing pasta. Search in my treads, I already posted it more than I had to, with links and pics.
Sure GRS diamond spray or other diamond powder on a leather lap works too, as that even will polish everyting.

Nice engraving Arnaud I really like the sculpting, I to am starting to work with TI in relation to the knife makers. I was able to get a piece of TI to play with
there is no number associated with the tag on the plate I received this is what the tag on the plate says 6-4 Titanium Knifemakers gradeTS64-006
What I have engraved so far has engraved really nice.
keep up the great work

Willem, I have ordered quite big sheets of Titanium in different thicknesses. They come well packed so almost no scratches. But it doesn’t matter that much if there are some, as they are just on the surface and not that deep. Most of the time I add some texture, so it doesn’t matter that much if there is a scratch.
I also order some Ti blank ring from the lathe, especially for those customers who want a higher profile. I can bend a 2 mm into a ring and weld it the way that it can be stretched up to 6 mm without the welding to break.
Sure I can engrave on a round surface like a ring, but sometimes I just engrave flat and bend and weld after that. It is no problem and the engraving just looks like it should be. I have a Super Ring Bending Tool from Pepe Tools for that, and sure that tool makes it much easier in any way. It took me several years trying to order one from and finally Chris DeCamillis ordered one and send it to me. I still own him some chickens for that.

Would love to see a tutorial on how your process. Sounds very interesting. Thank you for using Pepetools!
