I'm starting to feel like Grand Central Station. I really enjoyed Ron Landis' offering for the FUN auction. I suspect the rest of you also enjoyed it. Great idea to commemorate the anniversary of the nickel.

I will post a couple more trains when I get to the other computer.

Very nice Lee, I love the fact that your Hobo Nickels you always tell a story. At least they tell a story to me.

Lee, Beautiful work on this action. Very impressive work. Prize winner for sure. I have a small question about your train 1913. I note, on my monitor at least, a wash of what appears to be copper in the smoke and a green wash in the rocks. Are these accomplished chemically or with inlay, if they are there? Very sutile touch if so. Nice! Fred

Really nice looking stuff Lee. Does your hands ever stop or have you figured out a way to engrave in your sleep:)

This one will take a while. I have not decided on the other side and welcome any ideas.

Andrew-not a self-portrait. He's significantly better looking than I or is it photoshop on the coin..........?

Monk- I chased him out of the place a while ago.

Robert- so that was the chapter I forgot.

Fred- I put some cold blue paste on and it sometimes leaves a mottled look with subtle colors. I wish I could claim to have intelligently executed everything but sometimes dumb luck is better. I was simply going for a darker appearance to kill the shine.

Mike-It's the elves. We're tight. They do the work and I sign it.

Maybe some Indians harassing rail road track layers, some monument valley esque scenery... or Indians overlooking a train from a hill as it chugs through their once happy hunting grounds...

Lee, I have been thinking about the other side. An old line from some western or another were the plains tribe had stampeded a herd of buffalo to wreck the smoking beast-"They have sent animals to kill an animal". It seems to me it was a Roy Calhoun film but no sure. Fred

Construction continues on the train and the other side is what happens when the successful robbers drink and gamble a bit too much. Many details still to be applied but at least it is roughed in. You are probably justified in thinking that I am slightly off my rocker and do not know how to simplify or when to quit. It seemed fun at the time.

I've reattached the earlier photo of the train so you can see the progression.
