Thanks Marty, thought that was a great idea so I'll start off with photos of the flintlock in the video. A piece of very hard burled maple from northern Pennsylvania. The pattern is one I developed to fit me and my style of shooting but following the look of a 1750's era arm. The buttplate and trigger guard were castings with the trigger guard modified to resemble the side profile of a 1752 rifle. It is a .54 caliber with all artwork of my own creation and not following an original rifle. I'm quite happy with the side plate design but there is always room for improvement. I forgot to mention the wood was all scraped and burnished and not sanded is done so often today. I did need to blend a few of the dips that occurred due to the extreme soft spots vs. the very hard parts of the wood. The barrel treatment was an experiment using steam to change the red oxide of the browning to the blue/black. Yes, it shoots clover leaves at 25 yds. offhand.
I know there are a number of flint shooters/engravers on here so let's see some old world work for a change. ;)
Mark

OK Mark. Guess I opened up my big mouoth so now I have to put up.
Here's my widowmaker. I built this about 25 yrs ago. It's a 50 cal with a douglas swamped barrel
I did the stock from a blank. I traced my favorite shiotgun barrel top and con=mb and used that as measurements for the stock so when I bring it up the sights are right there. I made my own hardware from sheet brass except for the trigger guard and butt plate which I got from Reaves Georing at the Allentown show.
So here for your ridicule and abuse are my photos

Here is my latest rifle it has a colrain swamped barrel 54 cal. The lock is charcoal blued the barrel is rust blued. The patchbox is my design cut from sheet brass with domed lid and Lancaster daisy. Some of the engraving patterns are not correct for a flint rifle but the trigger guard pattern was one I posted here and monk liked had to use it.

Fine looking firearm, sir! I knew it looked familiar - I saw it in person last weekend. Flintdoubles is a fine craftsman. I will try to get up to see you over Christmas, sir!

I just wanted the rifle to be fairly plain and functional Here is a photo of the lockplate with the engraving The trigger is hand forged from a piece of flat sheet iron

Well, them's real purty rifles, but just so everyone doesn't think they all look like that, here's a "real honest, plain working gun." It's 35 years old and started out "in the bright." All the aging and patina is from actual use. It's a 24 gauge smoothbore and I competed in local matches twice a month, usually against rifles; as well as at woodswalks and rendezvous in numerous states. It's been to IL, IN, MI, IA,WI, TN, MS, LA, CO, OR and MT in snow, rain, and heat. It's been elk, deer, and pheasant hunting. It won 1st place at a woodswalk in MS and a grand prize of a new TVM Southern Mountain rifle. I finally retired it a couple of years ago because the touch hole and frizzen were worn out. I fixed em, but sold out my camp and quit traveling when I turned 65. Have only been building Alex Henry and Rigby long range rifles for the last 10 years, some which I have previously shown here.

Here is something a little different. I built this gun 3 years ago starting with a set steel barrels. The breech plugs and standing breech are all hand made. The wood is Bastone L&R locks handmade trigger guard to match the taper of the lock panels this makes a smooth transition from locks to wrist.

Here are a few rifles that I have done over the last couple of years.

This one is not a flintlock but I think it will do.
