From picture/drawing to vector image in less than 1 min

Hi carlos

Does this do a center line trace, which is what I think Sam was eluding to????. In other words, generate a true centre vector line so there is no left and right hand lines. Hope that makes sense

From memory, CorelDraw, in its earlier versions, had this included in its auto trace features. Then they dropped it because it didn't work very well. But of course technology and computer programs have come a long way since then.

I'm curious as to why you guys worry so much about the vector vs. rastor art formats? What is it that you do with the vector based output that you have trouble doing with your artwork in photoshop, or another rastor based tool?

Thanks Sam. I'm very familiar with both, but at the size of an engraving transfer, say a 1"h x 2"L design, the edges are not nearly as ragged to the eye as shown in the video...

However: It's the magnafication! The designs are viewed at multiple magnifications of their physical design size, and then the ragged edges make ALL the difference, as shown in the video.

PS: Illustrator's image trace works fine for that type transfer and conversion - for those looking for a method.

Other important advantages of vector:
1.) having control points so the shape can be perfectly adjusted and modified.
2.) removing fill so only the outline (stroke) can be printed and transferred.
3.) adjustable stroke width.
4.) cleaner and sharper printing and transfer.
5.) infinitely scalable without loss of sharpness!!

Depends on your software, but in most of them you'll need to add a "stroke" color to the object, which will outline it. Then null the object color, size and print.
