Talking about an elephant, I was able to let my student and son in law Jeroen draw an elephant. And he even didn’t know he was able to draw one.
Yes I used a trick that helped him on his way. And while cutting sure he learned something about the anatomy of the elephant, and so did I.
I never have drawn an elephant before and one could critique the result, but is a step forward for both of us drawing animals.
I will show you the trick.
I transferred some vectors 0.04mm lines. Hard to see the transfer image, even under the microscope, but just enough to help placing the important parts like the eye, elbow and knee and the overall shape of the elephant.
And didn’t we use tracing paper when we were kids? So tracing whatever image of an animal using illustrator to me is just similar.
