no

i didnt want to mess with it without knowing something about it. all i know its spring loaded.

It appears to me to be a spring loaded center punch. The punch would be locked into the end then you position the punch then push down on the mushroom shaped handle, the spring loads until a sear trips and causes impact to the punch. I have a contemporary one with a permanantly affixed punch.

Don't be silly, a defamulator doesn't have those notches at the bottom, articulated or not.

edit: Well after thinking about it, I suppose if you were using it for laminating transit oscillation they could come in handy.

you're all wrong. that's a hand operated, piston activator for an early frammelschtaume machine. they were made in germany. parts too hard to find !!
