The pistol is a Walther PPK and the rifle is one of the AR-15s. I want to know if these are real tattoos or prints on nylon stockings.

Those are legs, not guns. In American slang, "guns" usually refers to a woman's breasts, as in "Wow, check out the guns on that babe!" You're welcome. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Willem,

The M16 has an M203, 40mm grenade launcher attached below the barrel.

Is there no hunting or target shooting in The Netherlands? Most countries in Northern Europe, like Germany, Austria, and Sweden, have strong hunting traditions.

Cheers,
Roger

I recall some decades ago visiting a friends family in the Netherlands. The son was on an army marksmanship team; he wasn't home, but the father showed me a target pistol, expecting me to react with the usual shock and amazement of their typical visitor. Instead I picked it up, immediately removed the slide, checked the safety, looked inside to make sure there was no bullet in the barrel. I then pointed it at a safe corner, checked out the balance, felt the trigger, admired it, and carefully placed it back in the case. The father's jaw dropped.

:)

These are great guns, definitely engravable!
You can do the deep relief but you have to be gentle with them, and don't give up if you don't succeed on the first time.
Keep on trying ;)

I have been told that in the Netherlands the only way you can own a firearm or ammunition is to join a sanctioned shooting club. Your guns and ammo remain locked up at the club and you can visit them to shoot on the club range, but you cannot take them home, or anywhere else. Is this true?

Apparently, you can wear a facsimile, like those depicted, but that is not my style.

I am not that familiar with the clubs and the rules but I think the want to change the law that way.
I am not sure if they already did so, at the moment there are members who do...how do you call it... clay shuttle (?) shooting and have theyre guns at home.(supposed to be locked up)
But because of a shooting in Alphen aan de Rijn ( a village in the Netherlands) with many victims they want to contol it even more then they do now.

In America most have the Old West mentality, if you have enough good guys with guns the bad guys stay away. Our biggest problem is figuring out who the good guys are , there are a lot of guns here. As we are Americans and we have guns everywhere I think that proves that the availability of guns don't kill people, or nobody would be left here. Has anyone ever asked your government why they are afraid of their own people, most people from the Netherlands seem to be in control of themselves, is this not so?

I have my moderators hat on for this one and I'm going to issue a warning :)

We have been down the road of gun laws before and it's always ended in the thread being closed or deleted. Plus it's a pain for us moderators because it normally ends in tears..............so far so good on this thread.

If you wish to chat about different laws in different countries that's fine, and also interesting.

However, this is not, I repeat NOT a place for venting your spleen about gun control or the lack of or reasons why you support one or the other........... There are a gazillion other forums where you can do that and vent as much as you want.

So keep clam and carry on and lets keep it civilised :)

Cheers
Andrew

I understand your point of view Andrew, don' worry I won't start here a discussion about differences in law.
I respect them as they are, but it's interesting to talk about the way people living theyre lifes in those different situations and circumstances.
A while ago, here on the forum someone told he was surpized and shocked that there was someone at his doorbell late at night.
Another forum member asked " why did you unlock the door unarmed" ..... I was amazed about this answer.
Here we never, never think there could be someone at the door with wrong intentions.( or if, we are not prepared either...)
Butt I must admid, the last years we changed our attitude about that a little, we're no more that naiëf.
Since the borders in Europe are no more there we have to get used to other moral then we we have known before.
But I find it very interesting how you people living theire daily live knowing that everyone might carry a gun, and you feel save with it and we feel save without it.
But In a country where it's common to carry a gun, I would feel saver if I had one too.....

You're correct Andrew, I should not have asked the question. I would edit it but the imagined would likely be far worse than the fact. I was not aware that the members of the forum were so easily inflamed or the moderators overtly emotional. I do apologize to all the people of the Netherlands, the anti-gun law people, the members of the forum and to you personally Andrew, I was simply unaware of the depth of my transgression. Sort of like the Old West the imagined is far from the fact.

Here in Texas we have had a concealed weapon law for some time. You obtain a permit that proves you know your responsibility for carrying and using the weapon. I have heard talk of an open weapon law that will allow weapons to be openly worn in public, just like the police you will be expected to uphold the law, now that's Old West.

C'mon Mitch,
You date yourself. Those are not legs, they are "gams." In today's slang, "guns" are biceps.

And would a rose by any other name not be paled by such lovely stems?
