Over here, stone setters have to drill the holes and cut the beads, all metal (gold silver and platinum) it is theirs. So now a days they can charge less a stone as they make more profit on the metal.
And no doubt the holes and cuts are deeper when done now a days, no problem as I do my own stone setting.
