West Coast Engraving Classes

Hello Folks,

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in Carlsbad, CA is offering one-week beginning engraving classes in March and September - "Hand Engraving Fundamentals"

March 18-22 and September 23-27

We start with the most important thing, ergonomics, and how to set up with your microscope so you can work efficiently and pain-free; a big topic if you've been reading forum posts for any length of time. After that, stand back - the chips are gonna fly! Ha!

We cover basic cuts, scroll work, shading, borders, patterns, textural effects, lettering, pattern development and pattern transfers, sharpening, tips and tricks. Our classes are taught in our only ocean-view class room, but who's got time to stare out the window with all the great stuff going on inside.

You don't have to be a GIA alumni to take the class. Everyone is welcome!
