Transfer ?'s on supplies

Ok so Where do I find lamp black for transfers? Can I find it local or do I need to use the web, and if so does anyone have a reliable source they trust?
Other options/ suggestions are also welcome.

I use graphite, available at the NAPA auto parts store.

Well originally they just used a lamp...hold the item above a flame of a lamp and it will turn black. Alcohol lamp, candle, even a lighter will work for the blackening...then use tape to pull a transfer.
