I just attended an engraving class at GRS. I feel that my time and money were both well spent. If you are looking for cheaper routes you may well find them but if you waste years going about things all wrong then you have saved nothing.
Everything about the classes at GRS is first rate. The people, the tools, the building, etc. You are taught by a knowledgeable instructor to use top of the line equipment. They pack a lot of information into the 40 hours of instruction. You will work hard, but practice plate after practice plate you see improvement, until its Friday and you are completing your final assignment.
I am so thankful for the class that I took. It answered all of the questions that I had, and it saved me a lot of time that I can see would have been wasted on bad sharpening, bad design, etc. I encourage any beginner to scrimp and save and get up to Kansas.
