What do you use to cut to cut real tight or small scroll ? Do you use a smaller cutter or do you have
a different way to sharpen your cutter or graver?

It depends on how you define "tight or small". I use the same graver but shorten the heel if it's really miniature scroll. If you're getting heel drag when cutting a tight radius, then shortening the heel should cure the problem, assuming you have reasonably good graver control. / ~Sam

"Tight or small"?
Sam accurately said, and I agree that it is relative. Here is another thing to consider, which comes under that heading of "control".

I would add to what Sam said by saying also you have to keep the depth of the cut within the boundaries of what the tool will accomplish, simply meaning, don't cut too deep, or past the lift angle of the tool or the length of the belly facets. It is common to cut too deep with a very short heel. So yes, we have a different way of sharpening to answer your question, but also a difference in approaching the work.

Hope this helps too.
