I have a firearm that was just sent to me to engrave. It is a 1963 Colt SAA in 45LC. I was told that it is in bright stainless. It looks similar to the bright stainless pythons and anacondas. Problem is I have never heard of a Colt SAA in stainless. Is this a brightly polished nickel gun and the high end dealer mistaken? Are there really stainless SAAs with 1960s serial numbers? Is there a way to tell what I'm holding?

Call Joe Canali at Colt (archive department), tell them what you think you've got & ask them to research the serial number. Is there a box or other supporting documentation that's its really stainless?
IF it's actually stainless and made back then I'd leave it alone.
My two cents,
Weldon

I heard talk of Colt coming out with a line of Colt SAA's in SS in about 2010. But, one from the 60's? No such thing.

It could be a one of as kind.... if so I'll buy it, fit the current price, this is before you find out if it's a rare piece
