"Keine Rose ohne Dornen" Our club has a coal fired bellows type forge here that I've made a lot of things on through the years. But, those days are over the way my arms and hands are nowadays. I've used that technique with the brass brush to add a gold shimmer to the iron. I think I'll send the link to my knife maker friend in Israel. Thanks!

i notice that metal cuts easier when it's cherry red. i wonder if knifemakers & collectors would mind if i fired up the torch whenever i hit a hard spot?
