Fred,

I stand corrected, thanks for those observations.

But maybe it is at the layout stage and would be soldered later? It is certainly beautifully done.

Now I am even more interested. As some one who works daily with boxwood, and also flat silver wire in ebony, I have to think it is metal foil.

Hoping to learn more...

Rod

The illustration comes from this web page: http://www.smithsonianmag.com/arts-culture/why-camille-paglia-is-alarmed-about-the-future-of-art-174839191.html

The credit for the illustration: "Illustration by Jitesh Patel"

A Google search for Jitesh Patel yielded this web page: http://jiteshpatel.wordpress.com/

If you scroll down about half way you can see more of what is called "3D Quilling". That's what it is... 3D Quilling. (aka Paper Filigree, made up of card stock paper which is cut into narrow strips.)

Doc the Googlemeister :)

Thanks Mark. Quilling-That's the word I was trying to think of. I have seen it also done with thin strips of wood. I think it was at a Michaels. Very pretty stuff. Fred

Googlemeister,

Nicely done, and we have closure. It is an excellent technique, and I am happy to be totally wrong. I learned something new.

Thanks, Doc.
