Yes Don , I really am testing all my skills on this one. I started out with just raw silver and made all of the sheet metal first and then proceeded to make all the parts from that. It is repoussed from the back, chased from the front, filigreed and then engraved. There are 8 corners,a cantle binding, horn binding and gullet cover, the back of the cantle is covered, tap ends and fender corners too. Oh yea,I think 16 conchos .Never beat on so much silver for so long in my life!!!!

Spell check can't spell it either!!!

Wow Dave, that is gorgeous. Forgive my ignorance of saddles, but how big is that?

I should mention that Chris D. and I have been developing a new hammer handpiece for chasing. My suggestion for a name is "the HAMMA". A very powerful and easy to use tool.
It's a great aid in really "movin metal".

My suggestion for a name is "the HAMMA".
Since it's so versatile, you could also call it the "REPOUSER" or the "FILIGREENO."
By the time you're all finished, they'll be calling you the "Concho Honcho."

Absolutely beautiful piece, any vaquero should be proud to have that on their saddle, I know I would.
"Pedro"; is that as in Pedro Pedrini who is building the saddle?

Dave,

It looks like that new hand piece can really move some metal. How thick is that silver? I assume you did all of that repousse with it. Does it speed up the process over using a hammer and punch ? Or does it give you more control. I am looking for feed back on the hand piece from you can you describe the advantages if any between it or a normal hammer and punch?

It definitely looks like it is working well for you. This project is beautiful.

Chris
