Does anyone know if the S&W M&P 40 slide is engraveable? It appears to be stainless with a black finish. I'm thinking hand engraving is out due to proprietary finish. Anyone have a better idea? Mght be a better candidate for laser engraving.

Gerry,You should'nt have a problem engraving the stainless slide but removing the black finish is going to be a pain and time consuming, I just engraved a Kimber with a black finish witch I had to remove before engraving J.J.

The M&P has one of the now-standard finishes so I doubt it's engravable. I consider my black guns as tools, although I'd love it if there was the possibility of engraving one when I'm ready. But at least I know they're durable.

Does anyone make an after-market slide for it like they do for GLOCKs?

Aluminum oxide blasting to remove the finish, then sand to get the media blast marks out?
It's all I've found that works regularly to get that stuff off.
