Ruger 1911

This might fit in the easy/hard to engrave thread. I just completed a Ruger 1911. Very hard, tough, gummy steel. I broke lots of carbide tips. I was very unhappy with my finished product. No doubt much is my general lack of skill, but I found the gun fighting me every step of the way. Ruger must have thrown in some very high end turbine steel in this particular batch.

Don't beat yourself up to much. It looks nice. Sure there are some faults in backbones but considering the tough metal, it looks nice. Many non-collectors would like this piece.
