After seeing the previous post of light painting, with the help of my sister's camera, we gave light painting a quick go.
I was quite impressed with the depth of detail, just thought I'd share what resulted from it.
I used a longer exposure (16 or 30) when I played around with it, Matthew. So far, using my iPhone was the easiest since I could get a live view of the light exposed areas to avoid overexposure. I also diffused and colored the light to get the brightness and temperature I wanted. I took a translucent white plastic bag, colored on it with an orange marker, and then folded the plastic over several times; you don't want too much color. Try that over the light with the longer exposure and see if that helps.
