I'm sad to hear this news, Alain. René Delcour was a legend among engravers. My condolences to his family.

He did a Cafe interview a few years ago for those who might like to read it again.

That's very sad news Alain. When I was a small child René was a regular visitor to our house. I remember he had what seemed like a magic bag; it was only small but he carried virtually everything (apart from the kitchen sink) in it. And he'd always bring us loads of bars of amazing Belgian chocolate! He was a lovely man and I'm sure my father will be very sad to hear of his passing.

I am very saddened by the loss of this great master. Someone once wrote "when an old man dies, it is as if a library burned down." In the case of Monsieur Delcour, he spent many years passing on his vast knowledge to others who are the masters of today so his knowledge lives on with the work of his hands.

Requiescat in pace René Delcour.

I just got an e-mail from my friend Rocky Capece.

Rene Delcour passed away yesterday Jan 15th.

The world is a little poorer today.

Mentor, Teacher, Friend.

He will be missed by many.

Godspeed

I will never forget you
