Prudhomme's book was the first I am aware of on American engraving. I bought a copy of the second edition in '67 if memory serves. It is ragged and worn and I poured over it many a happy hour in those days. Some years ago I managed to get a signed and numbered copy of the first edition with a note to me from Prudhomme...it is in mint condition and hides in my safe!

In those days all that was available for the aspiring engraver was Prudhomme's book and photos in Gun Digest.
