This is a 3x3" copper practice plate I just completed. It was a little outside my comfort zone, but I really enjoyed the challenge. I need to spend more time working on lettering.
Victor,
Your lettering formation looks pretty good. The uneven size got to you and that is hard to judge in a curved ribbon.
A set of dividers will help there. You did an outstanding job on the ribbon itself.
A tip on the lettering layout dividers... try to find a pair that has removeable points/tips.
You can substitute pointed hard lead, brass & nickel rod or hard drawn copper wire on one side.
I use all 4, depending on the job. From pewter to steel or titanium and everything in between. These are not as likely to mar your work when laying out lettering...
John and Brian, thank you for the advice. I really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. I actually have a set of dividers with removable tips, and never thought about swapping them out.
