Based on a Celtic design, this circular brooch is about 3" in diameter. Used to keep a coarsely woven or knitted clock shut.

The snarling dogs or dragon heads are from a 16th century wheel-lock engravings.

Made entirely from steel.

i post this to let you know that i'm alive and well. And having fun.

Happy New Year.

Very cool Tom.
Do you know of a diagram showing how those are used?
Thanks,

Jim

Jim, stab the pin thru both layers of the cloak, and then poke the pin back onto the front surface. then put one dog under the pin, and rotate the ring so the point of the pin is behind the turned section. You might see google images on these in use.

i like it very much. having said that, i'd not care to have those critters near my head. scary concept, esp at feeding time.

Hey that is really cool both the engraving and how it works. The design is so simple and yet effective. Beautiful work.
