i think your owl ate my pet mouse. it looks like the one, anyway. it has that look of "satisfaction" on its' face.

My sister-in-law keeps owls and hawks at my barn. She does rehab through game and fish. Your owl is sad and kind of forlorn. These darn things will take a chunk out of you if you give them a chance. A couple of years ago a wild Bird swooped out of a pine and attacked my 85 year old mothers little toy poodle. It was quit a sight to see my mom trying to kick the crap out of that great horned while it was tearing at her dog. Momma won the fight despite her age and agility disadvantage. Fred
