Here are some pics of the work in progress on my bench which I took yesterday to send to my customer.
Not yet finished but I can see the end! I'll post new pictures later.

Another masterpiece of the engraver's art!!! Thank you for posting this Alain. Little details like running the vine through the 0 and 8 in the serial number are the master touches of design that I love to see.

I continue to be amazed at how you and a few other greats of the art keep pushing the envelope. Just outstanding!! Now let's see the manufacturers do THAT with laser/mass production methods. They will never catch up. S

this reminds me of finely sculpted wrought iron set against a bed of patinated bronze.difficult for me to believe the actual size of what i see here.

Beautiful work Alain
I would love to see a picture of the background prepped before the gold. Maybe one of these days if you have a closeup you could post.
I with Sam on the laser comment.

HI Alain

Just beautiful. With all that gold it looks magnificant. I'll look forward to seeing the completed job.

I do have one or two questions for you :)

Was this the drawings you showed me at Reno last year?

You must spend a lot of time making the background even so the gold lies flat. Do you have any special technique for that? or is it just a matter of experience and a good eye?

Did you use sheet gold?

What thickness gold do you use for something like this?

Have you slightly textured the gold?

How many months does it take to do a job like this?

Cheers
Andrew
