New design of old jewelry

My mother asked if I would make something from her cocktail ring. Since I'm not a stone setter per se, I didn't want to fool with the stones so I made a posy holder out of sterling for the ring.
She had a 1.7 carat diamond that was her fathers that she didn't know he had and wanted something done with the stone. Not a good quality stone but very pretty, so I tried my hand at gypsy setting the stone in sterling and of course don't have burrs. Another learning curve to work through cutting the seat and setting the stone. Not the fastest job but it was completed and didn't turn out too bad in my opinion.
