Luminesque solitaire for 1.5ct old European cut diamond.

The diamond is far from round. It has a .4mm difference in max and min diameter. I did my best to hide this.

hey, as pretty as this is, nobody will see such a horifficly out-of-balance stone ! are deviations like that the norm ? i should think it would be so with stones faceted with less hi-tech equipment. i'd think with the digital facetors, such deviations would be rather minute compared to the stone you have shown here.

Old cuts have a lot of individual character unlike today's stones.
They were cut well before our time & without fancy technology.
They can be a real pain to set especially pave or flush!
Nice stone & ring engraving, I'd maybe prefer to see it in a different setting myself.

In the old goods there can be huge deviations. Some are really lumpy.

It wasn't my choice of setting. I just do what they ask. I think they wanted bezel due to this girl being rough. Pave or lighter looking setting wouldn't last on this particular person.

thanks, bert. i've only set one stone. i swore such insanity would never be tried by me again. i cant think of any thing more difficult for me, than to set those tiny little ones you folks do. eith my tremor, thos stones would likely end up on the floor !
