"likes' announcement e-mails

I started getting e-mails today letting me know each time I get a like. Usually I'm good at finding all the hidden controls and switches on forums, but I can't find the one to turn this off.

I know I wasn't poking around earlier in a way that could have turned it on, perhaps a server burp or upgrade changed the setting?

(I'm working on becoming a curmudgeon, so if I find out people like me, that upsets the whole balance)

I am already a curmudgeon and find the whole "like" thing pointless without the "dislike" button being turned on. Thus, I am not part of the "feel good" society where everything must be perceived as rosy through the use of disingenuous, superfluous superlatives.
