Its all about the quality and desirability of the knife to the buyer.
Engraving is icing on the cake.
You have to start with a great cake.

I see what you are getting at with the desirability of the of the knife to collectors Barry. If it is made by a well known desired maker it will make the knife much easier to market. If you call these reasonably priced I don't want to know what you consider expensive! Holy mackerena!
I manufacture my own quality liner lock folders with either titanium or stainless steel scales in the $300 to $400 range. With mother of pearl inlays probably around $500 to $600.

I agree, and I am soldering a "cake" together right now... (kinda like baking?) :)

Somehow, like anything else, it beats "storebought".
