What is the rule of thumb if you engrave a pocket knife where both sides are plain. I did this spyderco on both sides because I felt it was the right way to do it to make it looked finished. I have another with a clip on the back that I know I will not engrave. What's the feelings on this. Thanks. image.jpg

both sides are appropriate to do. unless the client would want 1 side only. if a clip knife-- remove the clip to make things a bit easier, and engrave what's remaining. i don't personally engrave a knife unless it's for an individual. i always work from the owner (his or her ideas) as to what is wanted. doing a blade that lacks symmetry, you better get input as to the placement of monograms, names, & logos, etc. before doing the job.

On a knife like this what side is the formal front. Or the top for that matter? Again thanks for the input.
