Question: Knife Blade Etching Name

Over the years I've noticed knife builders etching (?) their name on the blade. Tiny and very crisp! Does anyone know how they do this?

Electrochemical etching.
Can be used on hardened steel.....also.

Most have electrochemical design that is either made into a stamp of sorts or artwork which can be resized to fit and then photo etched. Several devices are available. http://www.etch-o-matic.biz/eom.htm is one such product. Fred

There are folks who use these methods to put the art work on the object to be engraved. Used a lot in production hand engraving. Fred
