JJ Roberts in VA

I just wanted to mention the I spent last weekend visiting with JJ Roberts from Manassas, VA. He is is heck of talented engraver and gunsmith. If you are ever in the area you should look him up. We used several different types of gravers. Basic hammer and chisel's, and then some power stuff by GRS and Lindsay. We spent time going over the correct procedures for sharpening and honing with the GRS power hone, wonderful tool. Reading how to do it and then actually performing the task Let's face it, a dull tool is the enemy. Anyway, we did some practice plates and some gold inlay...

Ray..I am glad you were able to have a class with me and my other students last week-end. Your decision
to buy a Power Hone, Magnablock and Ron Smith's book on Advanced Scrolls Design from GRS was a good decision. Study Ron's book and do a lot of drawing...it will all fall together for you in the end.
