I had wanted to inlay red gold for sometime, unfortunately the only round wire red gold I ever find was an alloy of copper, gold, and nickel. Since red gold is use mostly in jewelry the purpose of nickel is to make the alloy "stronger" which make it almost impossible to inlay.
My usual gold provider is Hoover and Strong, they would provide me with an alloy of gold and copper but their minimum order is one ounce, I am looking to partner to share both the cost and the gold. Should you be interested please leave a message on this board or IM. If anyone had the opportunity to inlay that type of alloy (gold + copper) please let me know about the experience.
Please do understand that I do not know if the alloy I am looking for will be easier to inlay that the most common one but I am willing to take the chance, you need to be willing to take the same chance and understand that what you will get might go directly to your refining jar if it unusable for inlay.
Thank you.
