I ordered and received a grs 901 hand piece and already had a decent compressor, what else do I need to make it work?

You need a control box for it. Either the GraverSmith,, GraverMax or GraverMach.............with the control box comes a foot pedal. Or if you have a 901 with a Airtact capability then you can get a GraverMach which has Airtact control built into it.

The control box regulates the strokes/power etc etc.

I purchased lots of my stuff on e-bay and the rest from GRS. Please, make sure thart you compare the prices of e-bay items against the GRS products. Smoetimes GRS is cheaper than the e-bay items.

one must be aware; a bargain on ebay can really turn sour, if shipping fees are an issue.

All the way my advice is ,if you are new to the art , take a couple of classes first or try to meet an engraver that can explain to you what will good buy before invest in something that you can't use after, is like you want a new car and you buy before the wheels.

A trip for a class would be out of the question at this time.

Ok, I have a few updates.
I sold a few personal items to purchase GRS tools.
I now have a GRS 901 hand piece and graversmith, I purchased a cheep engravers block that broke the first time I used it.
I returned it and purchased a GRS standard block that came in yesterday.
I'm currently saving for the GRS basic class, the classes are all full at this time, but high hopes one opens up in the next few months.
I only have a few hours of playing around with the system.
I am having a hard time with depth control, lat night I took out the heavy spring in the 901 and added the lighter spring, that seemed to help.
