Dennis, the Willie coin is amazing, yes. But for all the engravers out there that think that hobo nickel carving is the redhead stepchild of the engraving world....Check out the rest of Aleksey Saburov's exquisite nickels...I have uploaded, by permission, all but his most recent carvings....only because this is a massive project to keep up with...

And Aleksey's buddy, Alex Ostrogradsky is no flash in the pan either:

I have actually maxed out the number of boards I can post on pinterest...am looking into setting up a dedicated website for the promotion of hobo nickels as an engraving artform....These two guys are some of the best.

Dennis,
I am the proud owner of the Willie coin.
He sits on my bench for inspiration.
I commissioned Aleksey to carve the coin and he told me it would be a while as he had other work to do first.
He finished the coin on Willies 80th Birthday and it was his 80th carving, which I thought was pretty cool.

If you have carved a hobo nickel, send the pics to Chris so he can archive the coin, good or bad.
Thanks Chris for all the work on the archives posting and cropping, I know it is a lot of work.

I was pleased to meet Alex, Aleksey, and Keith for the first time at Scott's Engrave-In. There is nothing like seeing their work in person. Thanks for the access to your image archive.

i have the coyote & courage dog both in progress. because of a head & hand tremor, i have not finished them, or any other "delicate" stuff. been away from the detailed stuff for about 3 years now.
fortunately, the 24th. of this month, am going for a bilateral thalamic deep brain electrode implantation. with luck, i may be able to finish the hobos, and get back to the "real stuff". other than the 2 you have, i sold a couple more on ebay back then. say one for me !
