Hi, I feel a bit of fraud here amongst so many talented hand engravers, but i'll say hello anyway
I'm from the UK, my partner and I, run a couple of small general engraving businesses with my partner, Jeanette, is a bright cut hand engraver and I run the machining side of things.
Jeanette learnt her trade in Hatton Garden, London, then opened her first shop in 1979. I joined her in 1985 from an engineering background, the work balance of Machine and Hand Engraving has worked well throughout the years.
Jeanettes Father engraved banknote plates (legally ) for most of his working life (now retired) Very high quality work IMO, his 'doodle' plates are stunning.
Strange thing is he can't do the work Jeanette does, and equally his daughter struggles to mirror his methods. He'd take a week to do what 'Jet' will do in an hour
As they say different strokes for different folks.
Still, thanks for listening
Paul
