This is A2 steel die made recently, the diameter is 33 mm of 18K Gold coin with Lithuanian crest "Vytis" .
Stamping this, 50 ton hydraulic press cracked down, I build a new one, 100 ton.
Paul,
Even cold rolled steel can be case hardened, but why would you want to? He keeps them in compartmented show boxes, and they are only touched by people with white gloves on!
I do trust that some one will make a video of your whole career, and include footage of your approach to art and sculpting craft. Perhaps some video is already out there?
I agree, Rod. Paul's story would make a good subject for a documentary video. Paul's biography in American Engravers just scratches the surface of his fascinating journey from Lithuania to the US and his progression from classically trained artist to gun engraver.
I agree with Rod, fascinating work needs to have the story to round out the picture. I have always admired your work Paul and you have done great justice to this hammer and the collection. An inspiration to excel in my own endeavors.
