I normally advise taking a basic engraving class unless your goal is western style engraving. If so, then take the basic western.

Thanks everyone.... My goal is to engrave firearms someday. I like western style engraving since it seems more universal. Although my goal in to create work like Nimschke.

Take a basic class. You can always branch out from there once you see what you like and what you are good at.
