John B sent me some photos of a Colt 1911 he recently finished for a customer. What a beauty with every surface artfully inlaid in gold scrolls. He's also used pink and green golds in the cluster of flowers. I can't imagine how much time this took! Thank you John B for sharing the photos with us!
John was my teacher in Susanville TMTC years ago. I still have some of the practice pieces I did in his class. I also remember how sore my face and gut were from having so much fun and laughs !!!!!! Thank you John, you're a priceless treasure!!!
It's certainly a wonderful piece of engraving and when you hold it in your hand the gold really pops!!!
It was a real pleasure seeing it at the FEGA show in Reno and visiting with John and Ray Phillips. Two of the best people you will ever have the privilege to call friends.
One of my favourite Englishmen, a gentleman, an excellent engraver and teacher, an ex steeple chase jockey, a dear friend, oh yes, and a good singer of Scots songs.
John, I loved looking over that gun work in Reno, and so pleased Sam A posted these good photos on this post.
We had some pretty good music sessions this time, John, in Barry's exec suite. I will work on the "Minstrel Boy", and we will do it again next time?
Thank you for posting the pictures, Sam. Very kind of you.
And to the rest of the Cafe crew that took the time to look in and write:-
Thank you very much for your time and welcome. Much appreciated.
