My wife's mother and oldest aunt were born in India by natural childbirth. Her grandparents were missionaries there at the time. Her grandfather gave Ghandi the sewing machine that he used to carry around with him. He was also friends with Nehru and my wife remembers him visiting the house when she was a small child. One of the Ghandi offspring lives in Memphis and contacted us a couple of years ago. He is writing a book and remembered the sewing machine and her grandfather, whom he remembered as a young boy in India.
