Is there a business meeting during the convention that members should/can attend? If so which day?

Along the same lines, what's the best way to bring pistols/handguns to the show? I will be flying.

Donny,
Usually a meeting on Saturday morning - check the FEGA website for the exact schedule.
Bert, check with your airline - not all will allow them - some will in a approved container. Or you may be able to ship them to yourself at the Riviera, I'm not positive. There much more knowledgeable folks here that will give you better advice.

Personally I'd rather ship it to myself at the hotel, then deal with taking it thru the airport.

GTJC460,
Why? Don't you want TSA thugs playing quick draw with your guns down stairs??? Or maybe acting like Elmer Fudd running around with your shotgun? :)

Graniteguy52,
Checked the FEGA site not mentioned anywhere in the schedule....Hopefully someone on the board will chime in :)

The exact schedule hasn't been set yet but it will follow previous formats. So yes, there will be a general meeting first thing Saturday morning.

Everything will be published in the next two editions of the FEGA Engraver magazine plus we'll post it on the forums.

It's gong to be a great show and quite an exciting one. New beginnings and all that. The tables are filling up so make sure you book your banquet/auction tickets. You can do it online or contact Betty at the office.

Cheers
Andrew

Donny, you will have a great time I am sure. This one will be my 35th meeting in a row, having attended the very first in 1980 at the Sahara in Vegas. I rue the day I shall ever have to miss one!

Andrew, it will be great to visit with you again!

As for traveling with your pistol. It is nearly effortless to put it in a locked container like a small Pelican case with a pad lock and put that in your checked baggage. Simply declare it at the ticket counter when you check your bags and they will have you fill out a small card then take it to a separate bag check (usually the over size counter) and the TSA will inspect the firearm in your full view to insure it isn't loaded and then lock it back up and hand you your key. They'll place a card in the checked bag stating it has been inspected and you're done.

Thanks everybody for filling in the info.
The meeting will be 8 am Saturday in the skybox, it will be well announced if you are at the show.
Tim is absolutely correct.
It is easy. just make sure it is a commercial locking hard gun case.
Here is a little preview of an email that will be going out to everyone on our FEGA list soon:

Hi All,

an update on the Gun Engravers Show in Las Vegas. :)

Table sales and banquet tickets are selling ahead of our usual figures at this time of year.

We expect many new FEGA members to attend , because of the ease and low cost of getting to Vegas.

Also, ACGG members are very welcome to come as attendees or tableholders, and have all the rights and privileges of any other table holder.

Our discount table deadline is set for Oct. 1st, so if you know of anyone wanting a
table, please contact them to send it in.

Our count as of today is 42 tables & 70 Banquet tickets.

We have room to expand beyond the 75 show tables on our plan.

Our banquet seating is set for 100, but we will most likely add more.

The banquet tables seat 10 @ a table.

The banquet will sell out, the only question is how many will be the final count,

so reserve now so we can add the seats we need for everyone.

We will have a lot of industry VIP's there, many of which will be new faces.

SO - come, eat, drink, and see and be seen.

We are going to have a GREAT time in LV.

Here is a link to the info on the Fega website:

And the link for table applications:

If you wish to Join FEGA, ( not a requirement for ACGG members) here is a link:

FEGA and ACGG members in the past have always got into our show for free. This is now changed because Beinfeld Productions are in charge of the gate so if you do not have a table, you will have to pay to get into the show like everyone else. However, the cheaper hotel rates will more than offset this small cost.

Set-up for Exhibitors:
Thursday 16th 10am ~ 6pm

Make sure you set up early. Other exhibitors and those with an Honor Guest Pass will be visiting your table. It will be a busy day!!!

Location

Riviera Hotel & Casino;
2901 Las Vegas Blvd,
Las Vegas,
Nevada 89109-1931
Phone numbers; (702) 734-5110 Toll Free (800) 634-3414
Hotel Web Site; www.rivierahotel.com
Room Rates: Approximately $50 ~ $90

No FEGA promo codes. Members to book own rooms and tell hotel they are booking for the Antique Arms Show by Beinfeld Productions to get special rates.
The code for Antique Arms is SARM114 and this group rate comes out to about $89.00 per night.

Banquet and Auction
Saturday 18th January starting at 6pm.
Price per person is $58

This will be a fun night with the menu to be announced. The auctioneer is entertaining and the proceeds for the auction help offset the cost of the show plus helps build the finances of FEGA.

Seminars
Monday 20th January from 9am ~ Noon.
Bob Evans “Flush gold inlay done with a rotary tool” and “pantograph techniques”
Barry Lee Hands “Japanese Damascene technique, The tools and application”

That about sums it up, I look forward to seeing you there!

Thanks Barry for the information and update. Sounds like a large and great show in the offing. I am sure everyone will have a great time and with the huge crowd at the Beinfeld show traffic through our section will be heavy at times.
