Absolutely "UNREAL !!"....... :)

Everytime I see your work, along with Billzachs: & a couple others.....
I look at the nickel i have in my new shiney holder...and think.....

"How the hell do these guys get a pattern on to cut these things.....??"

Then I go out and shoot some squirrels.. :)

What would it take to get you to do a short tutorial on this........ ??

or do ya do it like Billzachs does..and just start cuttin & scrapin.....?? :)

Thanks.......

Steven,
That is cute!! Gonna have to try that one of these days. Looks like fun maybe.

And the colors add some cool highlights.

Hello Cafe members,
There is No Greater Reward than to have others enjoy my nickels...
Thank you for your continued encouragement and support....
Take Care,
Stephen

PS. There are Hobo Nickel tutorials a plenty on line...
I have NO artistic talent...
I scour the internet for images: stamps, postcards, greeting cards, posters, etc....
Edit in Photoshop, use filter, sketch and photocopy to produce a B&W lined image.
I use a knife shaped cratex wheel to remove the indianhead, keeping the date and word "liberty".
With a nice smooth surface, I use Tom White's Tranfer Magic and a tranparency to transfer the image to the coin....
Wasn't that easy....
I use a border in my design to maintain the integrity of the word "liberty" and the date.
The border allows for deep relief work and a sculptured 3D appearance...
I use 600 grit superstone, polishing stones and tips to finish the engraving...
Everything I know and have learned can be found in the Engraver's Cafe.....
You just have to look for it.....
I hope this is helpful...

If I can do it.... Anyone can....

24k humminbird and a copper tongue...
