Can anyone tell me what is the minimum barrel thickness one must have with a 44 magnum to be sure they are not going to ruin a barrel? The sloped sides of the Desert Eagle appear to me to be really close, and I am not going to create a dangerous gun for somebody. Help me before I tear out my hair and retire to the badlands!!!

most of the pressure is in the chamber area. a lot of cylinders have as little as .040 between the chamber ant the locking bolt cut on a revolver, so you would have to cut really deep in a desert eagle barrel to get down to that type of wall thickness.
