Choosing a theme

I’ve shown this piece here before but it’s been a while….. Thought I’d share again:

The question “What does a client want?” Has been frequently asked: here’s one example:
The embellishment on this Colt SAA happened after the client’s representative gave me these instructions: “ make it so nice you don’t want to let go of it”. No theme, open budget & do whatever I want? Ok. It took some thinking & for a theme I finally settled on western art, specifically Indians & Buffalo. The vignettes were inspired by the paintings & sculptures of Remington, Russell, Frank McCarty & Henry Merwin Shrady. There’s a lot of work represented here with multi-color gold inlay & overlay, sculpted deep relief scrollwork and border techniques. French grey finish & ivory grips complete the package.
I am not currently accepting firearm engraving commissions however: our company American Scroll brings this same level of craftsmanship, skill and expertise to all our apparel. American Scroll is available online.

When someone asks me, how long did it take to complete an item, I answer I don't keep track of the time. Your work here is amazing. The hours you have invested in this work is something that is impossible for most people to comprehend. When someone asks, how long did it take. The reply most likely is don't ask.
