I have always thought of that style as German black leaf...acanthus being a more leafy style with a lot less stem.

I agree with Sam W. The style displayed is known as "blackleaf" or in German speaking countries as Altdeutscher Laubgravur (old German leaf engraving). Note: The shotgun in the picture was engraved by Rudolph J. Korbrath (1877-1946).

Morris usually has a great display at the Sporting Arms section of the Beinfeld show, just around the corner from where the FEGA tables will be and he always has a good number of engraved items. And he and his wife are very pleasant people!

I have to again disagree with Mr. Hallowell about the style of scroll on Marty's gun. Morris calls it Nimschke style. Not much LDN there that I can see. The style is uniquely Marty's style of large scroll. I wonder what Marty says about it?
