A whole heap of hobos

I've been having some fun recently carving nickels and thought you might like to see what I've been up to. The one thing I can't understand though is when it comes to selling hobo nickels on Ebay there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to what turns the prospective buyers on or how much they are willing to bid. It makes the whole process very exciting and fun. The photos never seem as good as the actual article in the hand though. Two of the hobo portraits on the 1938 coins were private commissions and artwork was supplied by the client.

Hey Marcus,

Someone's been a busy boy! How do you find time to do all these great coins and still turn out all your scroll work? You need to fill your backgrounds with really tight small scroll "wallpaper", hee, hee.

Lookin' good,

Mark

Some great ones, Marcus. Really nice.
Love the eyes on Hobo Hal. Looks like a Charles Dickens character,The Artful Dodger.
My other favorite is the 1929 sculpted leaf man.
You have been busy and thanks for sharing these.
Hope they sell well for you.
Best.

Those are some great looking coins Marcus.

I don't think there is a accurate guage as to what they might fetch on ebay. While various factors come into play, I think a lot of the final price is determined by who the carver is. Once you build a "following" the price seems to increase.

One thing i've noticed following various "hobo" auctions, is that the ones that have a "clean" look as if they were minted in their current design, seem to fetch the highest prices.

Marcus your artistry is evident in these coins as well as your engraving skills.
What the price range that you've come across?

Nice coins, They are fun.
You can never tell how the bidding will go.
I have seen some real junk lately going for much more than its worth. and some real good coins going for cheap. Its always been a crazy market but lately you just can't tell.
