a bit rare to see an engraved night scene. the reverse will be daylight with the tiger partially inlaid in 24k. this was done in kind of a 'pen & ink' style, pretty much just like the rendering. a lot of the detail doesn't show in this bad cell phone photo- the tiger is shaded darker than this appears.

I have often though of attempting a night scene but have never gotten up the gumption to try it. I like your tiger scene...brings to mind Jim Corbett and The Man-Eaters if Kumaon. What is the item you used as a canvas?

it's actually a stainless inlay that will be installed in the side of a knife.

i think there's great potential in the general theme of nocturnal scenes. i've thought about doing something on a gun that will be blued, maybe with a gold full moon rising on the horizon, and some critter in the foreground that takes the viewer a moment to pick out. owls, wolves, a black panther (a melanistic leopard for you taxonomic sticklers), all lend themselves to the concept...

Very cool, Mitch. That might be the first night scene I've ever seen engraved.
