Ebisu with Tai fish. Ebisu is the character of Japanese mythology – (to be portrayed with a Tai fish – means good luck). According to legend Tai fish brings success and wealth, patronage in the business prosperity, personal life, house keeper and health of children.
In my adaptation after the art work by Kako Morita I have used the materials of platinum, gold, Argentium, and niobium. All of the black areas are oxidized niobium, the white areas within the sterling frame is platinum and the fish is 24kt gold. I have raised the design from the back (repousse) and used Keum-boo techniques to apply the gold to the platinum. The blue color is anodized niobium.
