On Saturday again there was a armed hold up on a jewellery shop in Tubeke Belgium.
One of the two robbers is shot down and killed by the jeweller. It was the fourth time he got uninvited visitors in his shop.
So he decided to buy a gun, but illegal. The thief that is killed was only 17. So probably the jeweller will go to jail. Although most of the peoples reactions are “Well done, and the jeweller should be granted with a medalâ€￾

That sounds a lot like the famous case of Tony Martin in Norfolk, England back in 1999.

Too bad we can't all live in the Wild West. We even have laws in a lot of states that specifically allow the shooting of criminals if necessary. In Texas, they even have a law that allows the shooting of a criminal that is attempting to leave your property with the stolen goods. :thumbs up:

Thank you Dennis, that is exactly what I'm doing right now, remake the wedding rings with the lettering. I got one almost finished by now.
And yesterday I had a quick order while the window maker was at work for a Ti hart pendant with a name on it.
So customers that show their sympathy also helps.
But I seems to have a problem staying at work after dark to go home. And it gets dark quite fast this time of season.

I know it isn't the direction that you wish to go, but if more victims decided to enter politics on a law and order platform, so that the laws were changed to where the criminals lost their rights and the victims gained theirs back, your country, our country and the world would all be a better place.
If a criminal is killed while committing a crime, it is too bad, but it was his, or her, choice. They are not the victim but the criminal. The law should not turn that around.

Arnaud, I'm sorry to read this distressing news. My best wishes for your recovery and hopefully the news coverage of this fools errand will be bring a new round of fame to your shop and obliterate the costs of recovery from this in a few years time.

Arnaud, I too am sorry to hear about your experience. The worst thing is that something like this makes you think what could have happened if you were still in your shop! It is so sad when a government takes away your right to defend yourself. It just is not right any way you look at it.
It is hard to have to make orders over again, especially this time of year when so many are really busy with one off orders, as they just cannot be replaced by merely making a phone call. I hope you get past this experience in fine order. I am sure you will though as someone of your fine character will rise above and be stronger for it.

Doc, yes similar story, the bad guys are more protected than the victims.
Anyway, sure I’m not more Saint than the Pope, so the FN devise I got from my grandfather will make me feel more save.

Will, yes a lot of people will agree on that, and there are too much human anyway, but one should not say that of course.

Thank you Scott for your sympathy, like already said, once the thieves are nabbed, they should eat all the glass and cut their thumbs off. In the mean while I now found 5 bullets I still have and I will take my FN Herstal device with me. As I always did and felt safe.

I have to work more ours now to have all the orders done, leaving my shop with the FN device will be more relax. And sure thieves may read this as well.

Doc, I remember reading about Mr.Martin in the NRA mag.he would have been better off killing all three of the thieves and dumping ther sorry butts in big hole. No police,lawyers,or thieves relatives to deal with = no jail time or law suits,home free.:yes J.J.

The organisation for victim help contacted me this morning, there seems to be a fund for these kinds of crimes who pay some for those who have no insurance. So all the organisations that are paid with my taxes, they may support me on this.

It has been a little tougher on thieves in my neck of the woods, as there was one recently shot and killed in broad daylight. Several blogs/comments show strong support for the homeowner (no charges filed) - so theives beware - you never know when you might encounter an armed owner ready to defend their property. Shame the right to bear arms has been taken away in many places. Sorry for your loss Arnaud. Shame they didn't sustain a nice gash to a main artery.

Thank you Wildwire, as I already said, arms does not solve those problems, but now again I'm armed, it is not legal but so is stealing.
So my choice is; better alive in prison while defending myself even an illegal way, than working in a bunker with all the legal expenses it takes, and still being scared.
I feel good now, only have 4 bullets yet in my Herstal devise, but this will work better than a base ball bat.
