I had tried to do Great Dane portrait bulino about a year ago and send it to the internet forum and ask that can I manage to engraving and forum people especially JJ Roberts and Sengraving had encouraged me to go on. Probably I was not go on to engraving if they not encourage me because I was 51 and had no any art background, I had never tried to drawing or painting etc. I've learned all from internet forum what I know about engraving. I am dog trainer and always use positive reinforcement for dog training. I see that how the positive reinforcement work on people in these forums. These forums what a great thing that from thousand miles away people help each other.
I have a new hobby that I love it and owe it to the people on the forums which give their help and knowledge.

These are my bulino practices from beginning to recent.

An excellent portfolio of work. I appreciate your sharing and admire your skill.

How well did the the chrome Zippo take the dots?

Thanks again for sharing,

John

Hi John.

I didn't use dots for zippo. All of them are lines. I do lines with air graver and usually not crossing them. I am using airgraver adjusting finest power and doing lines very close to each other looks like combing the animal.

I use three loops 4x , 6x and 10x. I do close lines with 10x and to make the light colour fur I am using 4x loop because it is easy to see colour gradient with low magnification while engraving.
I am planning to buy a microscope and looking for zoom magnification range start at 3x or 4x for bulino. I am not expert and don't know is this right choice but this way easy for me. I had tried with to do all engraving by 10x but can't manage it easily. I can't see what I am doing with high magnification. It is more enjoyable to engrave looks like pencil drawing with bigger field of view for me.
